Last weekend I
wrote a post about bikes in which I mentioned that there are two infrastructures layered one over the other here in Amsterdam. Today as I was cycling back from the "winkels" (shops--the local shopping mall) a traffic light was out. A police officer was directing traffic. When it came my turn to go, he pointed at me, then made a cycling motion with his hands. This made me think about how this dual infrastructure would make being a traffic cop doubly complicated.
